Barclays launches its Oyster in London

Thursday 20 September 2007

Used as a regular debit or credit card, the Barclaycard OnePulse can be used to purchase items below GBP 10 (EUR 14) without a PIN or a signature. A PIN or a signature is needed for transactions over GBP 10 (EUR 14). When used in Transports for London network, the card is seen by Transys, the operator of the payment system, like an Oyster card. The Visa payment application and the Transys Oyster application are kept separate.

The deal gives it the exclusive right, for three years, to put Oyster cards on its Barclaycard credit cards and Barclays Connect debit cards (cf. SI #07-19).
