GlobalPlatform works on Trusted Execution Environments
Up now on the GlobalPlatform website, the first guide covers Trusted Execution Environments (TEE), or the hardware and software on a mobile device that ensures that sensitive data is stored, processed and protected.
The TEE is a secure area that resides in the main processor of a smartphone, or any mobile device, and ensures that sensitive data is stored, processed and protected in a trusted environment. The TEE’s ability to offer safe execution of authorized security software, known as ‘trusted applications’, enables it to provide end-to-end security by enforcing protection, confidentiality, integrity and data access rights.
The first guide focuses on the GlobalPlatform’s involvement in this area of mobile security as well. GlobalPlatform's aim is to finalize the standards in relation to the TEE and launch a supporting compliance program which will allow it to test and certify the functional aspects of the TEE and its adherence to a validated GlobalPlatform test suite.
