Ingenico publishes Value Added Services white paper
In this document Ingenico elaborates on the emergence of new channels where payment is combined with new value-added services. These channels include taxis, healthcare, hospitality, petrol and travel industries. Thanks to these new channels, consumers are now able to use their cards in a wider set of locations, and benefit from access to additional services. For merchants, the ability to offer an easy and convenient access to value added services while accepting payment cards is seen as a business development opportunity.
At the same time, interactions between merchants and consumers are bound to evolve. Consumers are asking for more services from a wider variety of Points of Interaction (PoI). Demand is increasing for new mobility-related services, such as airtime top-up and transfer.
With these evolutions, the Point of Sale (POS) terminal, previously seen only as a means to accept card transactions, has become the central point on which new services can be offered to consumers.
