Inside contactless announces its NFC microread chip

Thursday 2 November 2006

The chip supports all RF protocols, and allows a SIM friendly architecture in which it communicates with the ISM using the Single Wire Protocol (SWP). Microread has a battery-off mode in which it leverages the field of the reader device to power both NFC and SIM functions. This allows contactless transactions to be made even when the battery of a mobile phone runs out.

Microread is already integrated in a Sagem phone for the NFC trial initiated by the Credit Mutuel, in France (cf. Smart Insights #06-43).
