Hitachi announced its Net@ITEM, the Hitachi's IT Apartment system (released in 2001) will now support Pasmo, the new Tokyo transit card valid on public and private trains, subways and buses (cf. Smart Insights #07-10). The Apartment system will use Pasmo ID authentication systems for the management of people entering and leaving the building. The Pasmo IT system requires the set up of Pasmo card readers on different places around the apartment building (including entrance, elevators and lobby area). The system can be coupled with cell phones to control residential facilities remotely.
